Core Power Yoga

Outstanding results have been observed whenever there has been a fusion between the east and the west.   Core Power Yoga is no exception.  As the name suggests, it requires immense power, both physical and mental.  This western style of Ashtanga yoga emphasizes the body, mind and the soul.  This spiritual approach to well-being is comprised of vigorous exercises that heal, detoxify and stimulate your body and mind through balance and intention.  It challenges you to physically and mentally connect to your core, which gives you physical and mental power.  The term “Core Power Yoga” was coined by an Ashtanga yoga instructor Beryl Bender Birch and was brought to the west by the followers of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.  This yoga type is very popular and is taught in yoga studios around the globe.

Core Power Yoga is made up of three programs, each with a different objective.  “Core Power” involves Vinyasa power yoga poses that aim at strengthening the abdominals and back.  It also includes various muscle toning moves.  The second program is called “Unlocking Athletic Power”.  True to its name, it also focuses on developing strength with emphasis on the back and abs again, and additionally on the hips and the pelvis.  “Soul of Strength” is the third type and is the most difficult. The moves are highly challenging with the intention of developing strength and concentration.  The pacing and performance of the movements is astonishing.  Core power yoga requires the execution of poses at a brisk pace, with some poses being held longer than the required five breaths.

Most people assume yoga to be a relaxing form of exercise but core power yoga is quite different. This fast-paced yoga type is performed in a heated room, like Bikram yoga, and is made of different types of cardiovascular exercises.  These exercises help the individuals strengthen their body, improve their concentration and endurance and enhance their stamina.  You can also expect the sweat to flush out all your toxins and stress. This yoga type is definitely the right one for you if you are into sports.

Though this yoga type is quite difficult,  its health benefits are significant.  A person cannot be considered completely healthy unless he is physically, mentally and spiritually in perfect condition.  Core power yoga, by focusing on the mind, the body and the soul ensures that you are on your way to good health.  After all, health is a dynamic process and and keeping it is a continuous process.
